After making quite a number of modifications on my web server to install mediacore and not have it break my python2.4 install. I would like to know about the future release of Mediacore. I just signed up for the cloud platform which shows quite a number of differences from the current release of 0.9 so when can we expect to see this release made public or will it remain as a cloud platform service release only?
Update Release?

As far as I understand the core of MediaCore will stay open source. However SimpleStation has only a few (but excellent!) developers, so please understand that everything else than getting the cloud up&running is currently on the backburner. But usually pull requests get merged quickly.
Did you publish your Python 2.4 changes? Actually I had some installs on 2.4 and everything worked fine IIRC.

Improvements to MediaCore will always come to the Cloud Platform first as it's on a rapid-release and update cycle. We'll be bundling updates for the open source version as we reach points where we feel a release makes logical sense. Right now a huge amount of the platform is in flux (we've rewritten all frontend templates from being Genshi to Jinja2 - and it's also possible we may port the app to Pyramid instead of Pylons) and there's a lot that we want to consolidate before doing a release. Also doing an open source release usually takes around 1 week of work as we have to write migration scripts, update the docs, cleanup code, and then of course market the release, so it's no small undertaking. As we're a small team being able to focus on the cloud platform is a priority right now.
We do have one small release (0.9.1) scheduled for the open source version that just includes a bunch of updates for stability, but does not contain any of the new features in the cloud platform. We're hoping to release this soon.
