   In my mediacore installation attempt on ubuntu with python2.6 the setup.py develop has consistently timed out while trying to download MySQL-python 1.2.2 from sourceforge.net. Here is the command line output:

   Searching for MySQL-python==1.2.2
   Reading http://www.crummy.com/software/BeautifulSoup/download/3.x/
   Reading http://www.pylonshq.com/download/
   Reading http://dist.repoze.org/
   Reading http://pypi.python.org/simple/MySQL-python/
   Reading http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysql-python/
   Reading http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysql-python
   Best match: MySQL-python 1.2.2
   Downloading http://internap.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/mysql-python/MySQL-python-1.2.2.tar.gz

   When I attempt to go to the website in my browser it doesn't come up. Is there an alternative way to get MySQL-python 1.2.2 as part of the install process?

   That's really strange... I wonder if sourceforge was down. Are you still having the issue? That shouldn't be happening.

   I am still having the issue today with the install, the install process times out at the exact same place. When I try to go to http://internap.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/mysql-python/MySQL-python-1.2.2.tar.gz in my browser, no page or download comes up.

   I just did a fresh install and MySQL-python downloaded without a problem. The download URL for me was:
   http://download.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/mysql-python/MySQL-python-1.2.3.tar.gz

   It seems like this must be a problem with sourceforge and/or your ISP's connectivity with it. It's unfortunate that MediaCore can't install without network connectivity yet, that's something we'd like to address in the future.

   Try going here and choosing from the list of mirrors:
   http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysql-python/files/mysql-python/1.2.3/MySQL-python-1.2.3.tar.gz/download

   Once you've downloaded the file you just need to easy_install it manually:
   

   # Activate your virtualenv
   source mediacore_env/bin/activate
   # Run the install on the file you've downloaded
   easy_install MySQL-python-1.2.3.tar.gz

   After that the usual setup process should work.
