I wanted to replace an existing podcast episode by swapping out the media via ftp. I know that if I go to the episode page it lists the downloadable version of the file at mysite/files/#-episode-name.mp3
I am not seeing the files folder on my server when I ftp (at least under home->media->, nor under var->www)
I'm guessing that mediacore uses an alias, or it's stored in the db. Can anyone give me some direction regarding this?

Mason, you should find the files in {mediacore-installation-dir}/data/media if I recall right, the changes you make to your domains setup in httpd.conf or vhost.conf depending on what you're running have redirects in them to map your domain to different directories in your mediacore installation.

I'll check the conf file...when I go to data/media/ I get a different filename: #_#_stub-month-day-year.mp3 versus #-episode-name.mp3

I've been digging deep into a few things, and know that if you upload a file before you save it, it creates a 'stub' file that is different from your file name, but also stores the display name, which is your file name, so that upon download etc, it appears as your display name.
The file however is actually the one stored in data/media .. if you check the media_file record in your db you're see a file_name and display_name field for that record which should correspond to both.
Mason: stub files are created when you upload a media file without first saving the media object that you're editing.
