MediaCore Step By Step Installation For Dreamhost Shared Hosting - Please Help

hi.. after spending a long time searching for the right video cms for education site, i came across MediaCore and really happy with all the features and designs.. for more than 4 months+, i have been trying to install it on my server but in the end, no results whatsoever.. i dont like any other scripts out there coz this is the best.. i already read the documentation more than 40x times + dreamhost wikipages + forums etc etc.. can u please guide me step by step? i am using shared hosting, but i have full access to the root of the server.. i have access to the SSH and by using PUTTY, i can execute any command.. also i have successfully created database in phpmyadmin but i dont know why, i cant see anything related to mediacore installation.. please guide and help me and please dont give up in assisting me to successfully setup this script, thank you so much..

the reason why i really wanted to make this site is because of educational purpose.. previously, i had youtube account in which i uploaded more than 2500+ videos for almost 2 years using my slow internet connection but in the end, everything is gone when youtube simply flag the videos and by misidentifying the contents, so i lost all the videos.. i dont want to start again over there, so that is why i wanted to install it here in my server..

Note: i knew only few basic things in php.. please make it easy for all of us..

hi,

iam not a mediacore developer and i feel with you that it is not so easy when you came from the PHP world to pyhton. We had the same problems before 4 weeks and after some help from a python developer we have understand the basics of python we are runing mediacore in a fcgi and cloud envoriment without problems.

I told you that cause we think there a lot of users who wanted to use mediaCore, but the installation which is when you know python very esay, to complicated for other users.

Mediacore is not complete yet, some profressional features are missing. But, the developer did a great job and with the basic-classes and programm architecture of mediacore you have a good chance to modifiy mediaCore for any requirement and project you have.

We plan to get users access to a EC2 image that has a clean and secure installation of mediacore. EC2 is a amazon image. You only have to choose cpu and diskspace and then you got a ready to go installation.

We are thinking to charge this image between 49 - 99U$, one payment fee. The profit will go into a mediacore developer pool where we want to pay other python developer for new features, bug fixing, etc.

Before we start we need to know if you would pay for an runing ec2 installation and if that makes sense for you?

Please share your thoughts and ideas how we can bring the openSource Mediacore to the next level.

and after that iam sure you dont will loose more hair with your mediaCore Installation.

most of the common user, love to have this installed in their server.. but problem is, it is complicated to install.. opensource such as joomla, wordpress, drupal, etc etc are great and millions of ppl using it because it is simple to establish.. to pay 300euro just to install this in own server is ridiculous.. why make such a good component like mediacore very hard to install and on top of that, too high price just for the sake of installation? this will make mediacore not survive for a long time..

i hope anyone who understands "opensource" to help step by step method to install this and share with many others outside there.. for those with USD or POUND or EURO currency, this will not be a problem but for those from other country, this amount if converted will be damn high.. 300euro almost like 1200+ and for the sake of installation nobody will pay such a price..

comraseliteunit: I'm sorry that you have so much hassle installing MediaCore. I try to help here as much as I can justify (as I have to pay real bills with real money).

I didn't see specific questions from you in this forum (just 'please give me all steps') which is really asking for a lot of things. Building such a guide likely takes many hours for the guy helping you. So the first thing for you is to read How To Ask Questions The Smart Way.

Keep in mind: Writing a good question takes a couple of hours but it will get you the solution still faster than asking several times in a support forum or spending months of failed attempts.

Second: "Open Source" does not mean "free". Creating good software needs time+experience. At some point the developer needs to earn the money for his/her living. If you get something for free it's just because it's either a very small software which was written for fun or someone else paid for it. Third: My installation package come with a month of follow-up support. That's a big part of value You find a MediaCore bug? I fix it and put the patch in git so you'll never be bothered again. You need some explanation how to do something with MediaCore? You can call me via Skype and I'll tell you. If you want to host a private video archive you might not want to pay anything but then you need to compensate that by your own knowledge/time.
