Dear MediaCore Fans,
We've made a milestone with MediaCore and are now ready to translate the application into new languages. A huge amount of work has been done both by the community (Thanks in particular to iElectric and Felix) and by our own internal team. A big round of applause for all involved.
Now we're ready to have everyone help us translate the application. We've tried to make this as simple as possible using Transifex.
Here's how you do it:
- Go to the MediaCore project on the Transifex site: http://www.transifex.net/projects/p/mediacore/resource/mediacore-enpot/
- Click the add translation button (look for a green plus button) near the bottom middle of the page
- Choose the language you would like to translate to (ex. Arabic)
- Click the translate online button
- Now just click next to each sentence and enter in your own translation, once you finish a page of translations hit the save button and continue to the next page. If you don't finish just hit save and come back later :)
If you'd prefer to do it the simple, old fashioned way you can download our mediacore.pot file and open it in your favorite text editor, then just do the translations in that and mail the final copy of the file to opensource@simplestation.com. We know this can be a little intimidating (hence the simple method above) but all you really have to do is enter your translation in the quotes that are after msgstr. So for example:
msgid "Upload your media using the form below. We'll review it and get back to you."
msgstr "Envoyez un fichier en utilisant le formulaire ci-dessous. Nous allons l'examiner et de revenir vers vous."
If you have any questions please feel free to post them - we're hoping to include as many languages as we can in the 0.9 release.
