Mediacore media files encoding

Hello, i'm new with mediacore and python and all that stuff.

I have a few questions:

1: After installing mediacore and with the front-end page, in the part where the user is going to upload, when you upload a movie or music is it going to be encoded with panda into the html5 and flash formats by itself? or must i install some adicional panda plugin and buy services like amazon and pandastream?

2: Is panda encoding already installed or must i install it? if it is installed, can i then select another place where to store my files or must it be one of the amazon services because pandastream and amazon work together?

3: Is it possible to create a user authentication system with a login box? so just the users can login and see their videos. Not things like private videos and pay stuff. Such things not. Just a user login like youtube and much other sites.

4: If i install Mediacore will it be scalable for future versions of mediacore? I mean when, for example, the version number 1.x comes out, will i be able to upgrade to that new version? or must i again install mediacore?

If you could please answer these questions it would be fantastic ^^

No, you need to install the encoding plugin (http://opensource.mediacore.com/plugins/encoding) and yes, likely you have to pay Amazon/Pandastream.

See above, it's an additional plugin.

No, you will need to write custom Python code for that.

Well, upgrading always means that you have to put in new code on the server which is part of an install. However you can keep all your data.

Is there a posibilty for a free encoding instead of paying panda and amazon? i mean: install a program in the server which converts the recent uploaded video into html5 and flash?

if not, then how can i disable the upload button from the webpage?

No, not out of the box.

That's possible in the admin interface (Settings).

Can i upload with ftp and then add the video via administrator without the upload system? Would that work?

no. If you want to avoid the upload system, you can ftp them to a location where it will be delivered by normal HTTP and just use the HTTP url in the upload form.
