Hi,
nothing is for free, and if we and to put the openSource Version of MediaCore into the next level, we need very good python developers and we need money.
Someone must do the first step, and we will create next week the first pool for features and bugfixes and we put $2.000 dollars in that pool. With this money we will pay python experts for creating new exciting media core features. I will send you the site as soon as our web designer has finished it. So if you know some great python developers let me know. We have to release all stuff under GPL v3. That is the only chance to make the MC bigger and more popular.
I want to start with some ideas what we think that it makes sense to implement in media core. Maybe we can look at other major DAM Systems like http://www.kitd.com/ for inspiration.
1) Publish End-Date for Media
- Here you can set start and endTime for Videos. Right now only start works.
Coast?
2) Live Streaming Events
- Here you can set a player into live streaming mode without having the controls. For this we need Point 1, or?
Coast?
3) DRM? Digital Rights Management for Flash and Silverlight
Coast?
4) Upload Plattform for automatic uploading an incoming file to youTube, Vimeo and XXX Plattforms
Coast?
5) Alternate Encode for Panda? Maybe an FFMPEG Binary, but..i don't like it when an CPU intensive process runs on the same machine as mediaCore. Maybe we create here en EC2 Image
Coast?
6) Thumbnail Creation Module with Timeline
Coast?
7) TV-Planner with ADS Support for Pre and PostRoll with VideoTimeLine. Maybe we can implement an HTML5 Video Editor from Mozilla.
Coast?
8) Category View in Media Section. Right now you only get the name of the video. A section by category is not possible
Coast?
10) Bug - Fixing?
Coast?
11) Payment and Billing Services?
Coast?
12) Multiple User management with more then one Mediapool.
Coast?
13) FTP Folder Scanner for Import, S3 Media File Scanner for Import
Coast?
14) SmartPhone Mobile Publisher. Here we have good news that we have test a H.264 Publisher for iOS which is able to publish to the MediaCore System via FTP Upload.
So you can publish files directly in H.264 and AAC to the mediaCore system.
Status: Beta...ready in Q1 2012.
Any other ideas?
We also need designer for module skinning and Board-Members for managing the pool.
