We just released an alpha version of MediaCore 0.9 - at this point it is intended for developers only, but if anyone wants to take a sneak peak they are of course welcome to have a look.

We've also had to push back the release date from early November to late November... but that's all detailed in the link above.
When I tried 0.9, I found that there is migration script #28 which breaks the upgrade for me. Can you check if you forgot to add that to the repo?
Just pushed a fix — turned out to just be that 029 should've been numbered 028. I had an old pyc kicking around for another migration on an experimental branch. If only we had a migration library capable of handling branching!

And good work, mediacore is a very interesting CMS and I love it.
I developed some plugins for 0.9 and all I can say: Please be patient. As you can see in github (https://github.com/simplestation/mediacore/commits/v0.9-wip) there is a lot of development activity going on. Some admin pages were broken when I check last a week ago.
Work is being done but it might take some more time until there is a polished, stable 0.9.
I am testing Mediacore 0.9 alpha, I see a bugs in player selection (vimeo or other) but is a alpha.
I am looking for pre-roll options or Ad modules but I dont see something in this alpha about this and in this post http://getmediacore.com/community/topic/next-release Stuarts tell about this features for 0.9 version.
Google Video Sitemaps Integration and support for Internationalization are very cool features but Ad Support (Pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll for video and banners for site layout) is very interesting for a video-site.
Will has Mediacore 0.9 this options??

Ruben: AFAIK pre-roll support is not in (yet?). I coded some (very specialized) Pre-Roll support for MediaCore based on FlowPlayer+OpenX. If you're interested (it won't be for free), I can give you a quote.

We've been meaning to write about this for some time. 0.9 is officially delayed a little at this point. We had hoped for an early november-december release (which we did with 0.9 alpha), but there are a huge number of things that we decided to tackle that are new additions since our last release discussion.
Here are a few of the new things:
On the openx front we have written a plugin that we may open source that will allow you to specify openx region numbers for preroll ads. This is a very light integration at this point, but we may dive into deeper integration as we progress.
I'm probably missing 100 small things, but these are really the big ones we've been focussing on. Switching to Google Closure has taken a little longer than expected, but we're confident that it will make MediaCore an incredible video platform going forwards. This next release is going to be huge, and we are unbelievably excited to see it out the door and into your hands.
There are a bunch of things happening behind the scenes with MediaCore and we're anticipating that we're going to use December to finish tidy-up on 0.9 and then will shoot for a launch in January (date to be announced next week).
Good things in this case, are definitely worth waiting for.
Ruben - I couldn't help but notice that your email address ended in .es - would you possibly be fluent in spanish? We're almost ready to start working on translations and we are hoping that members of the community will be able to help us get together an intiial release that will cover the following languages:
- Deutch
- Francais
- Espagnol
I know that we already have a partial Slovenian translation (thanks iElectric) and we're hoping that we can add support for as many languages as we can get our hands on.
Hi Stuart, yes I am from Spain and of course I am and very fluent in spanish ;-).
And yes I don´t have any problem to work in translation, in fact I installed the 0.9 alpha among other reasons for it.
I installed 1 hour ago OpenX Source (2.8.7) in one server, is a very powerfull ad application I only need to do pre-roll in videos with mediacore 0.9 because I am testing this CMS and my boss need this feature, if you have a pluging for openx and mediacore this help me a lot.
About the new features of 0.9, the Cooliris player is very cool, I can´t wait to see the 0.9 final versión.
I'm not going to lie, Stuart (and team) - I'm really disappointed with the lack of communication about these issues on your blog and in the forum.
I think MediaCore is a fantastic platform, but I'm worried that these constant delays will force users (like myself) to perhaps contemplate paying people like Felix to develop in a timely manner features which will eventually be included in the next release.
I understand there are problems, though, and with any open-source software there are bound to be development stalls, but I'd appreciate more focus on communicating to your very loyal user base!
This is the first time we've ever managed an open source project, and we are having to learn the fine art of making our internal development discussions more open. In terms of the delays - I think 3 major releases in less than 10 months is pretty good. We understand that people want to see features pushed out as quickly as possible (and we'd love to get them out as quickly as possible), but in the case of 0.9 there were a few things that we felt we really wanted to take some additional time to do rather than pushing out a rushed release just so that we could hit our initial release dates. It isn't a development stall, it's that we decided to add a stack of new features to 0.9 that were not on the original list of things that we planned.
In terms of hiring people out of the community to help with development, I think that's something that we've been excited about. It's great that there are guys like Felix who are willing to help small companies and individuals with integrations. We obviously have our own consulting services as well, but we recognize that not everyone can afford those services. It wouldn't be a community if we didn't allow this to happen. Having a variety of people able to help with installations especially at lower price points is crucial to the overall success of the project. We're adding a plug-in architecture to 0.9 so it will be easier for people to add modifications to MediaCore, and to customize the platform to their unique situation.
Communicating this definitely could be much better handled, and we'll be doing our best to make a note of this going forwards.
Also Ruben - we'll see if we can spend a couple of hours to get initial openx integration for pre-roll ads added to 0.9 - this will only work with FlowPlayer to begin with, as we haven't done integration with JWPlayer since the commercial version is required in order to get the pre-roll ad functionality.

Stuart: I think you're doing a quite good job in managing this project "the open source way". I think took quite a big bite for 0.9 so I have two suggestions for you:
Stuart if you can integrate openx with flowplayer in mediacore 0.9 this will be very appreciated.
Also I think a more constantly update roadmap help us to know features and dates for next versions.
I can translate to portuguese if wanted :)

In a couple of days I will have it translate to spanish.

There are a bunch of things we've missed in 0.9a, which is why we need to produce the final list this week... it's coming!

I like to test the colibri player and the other amazin features of the final version.
We're still wrapping the internationalization stuff this week and then we're off for the holidays from the 23rd to 27th, so the end of this month is pretty broken up. We're looking to have the beta fully ready by mid-January at the latest (hopefully sooner)

The Storage API looks very good. Is it possible to submit storage implementations ? Do you have policy on which storage you want to include in default install ?
I'll need GloriaTV storage engine. Gloria TV ( http://gloria.tv/ ) is a christian video sharing plateform. Are you ok to support any plateform regardless of their motivation ? Or is it possible to provide a storage engine as a plugin ?
