Hi guys,
We are video content producers in South Africa, syndicating our content online.
Although we currently use Youtube, we would like to move to serving our own videos, as well as adverts from sponsors.
Our website is built on Wordpress and we run a dedicated Microsoft server with Wowza installed on it. We also have a license for JW player.
The main benefit we see in Mediacore is the ease of interface to upload videos to the server, as well as archiving capabilities. Ideally, we wouldn't want website visitors to upload their own video or for Mediacore to display any front-end elements that visitors would have access to.
The "best-case" worflow scenario I have in my head is the following
- Admin encodes videos in M4V for HTML5 and FLV for flash player locally
- Admin uploads videos to our dedicated server via Mediacore (http://domain/mediacore?)
- Video is automatically placed in Wowza folder on dedicated server
- Admin enters Wordpress, creates a new post and selects video (via plug-in?)
- Ads are added via a specific JW player plugin (ideally also previously uploaded to our server via Mediacore)
- Video is displayed on our site using JW Player
1) Is this feasible using Mediacore?
2) Would I be complicating the worklow and not understanding some of the key benefits of Mediacore?
3) Finally, is Mediacore a streaming platform similar to Wowza or FMS and makes them redundant? (my understanding is that it isn't.
Apologies for all these noob-ish questions from a content producer with an analog brain :)
