I've followed the installation steps, and have a seemingly successful install. However, when I try to execute paste, I get the following error.

from tg.controllers import RoutingController
ImportError: cannot import name RoutingControllerDid I miss a step? It seems RoutingController is missing.
I'm getting the same issue, was just about to come on and post this.
We'll take a look into this today.
We now have a fix for this and will push this update in a release later today. Look for 0.7.1
MediaCore v0.7.1 has been released to address this issue, among others. If you run into any further issues, please let us know.
Thats great, I have now got it to run. I am having some issues with the admin panel though. When I click to add media or submit most forms I get

flipshot, thanks for the heads up. I've released v0.7.2 with a fix for this, among other things. For more details on what's changed you can check the commit history on Github.
I've done extensive testing on this version and simplified the install process and documentation some. I'd recommend wiping your database and starting a fresh virtualenv. Should be a breeze this time!

I now am able to start up MediaCore, upload files, and access the admin section properly.

I'm using MediaCore 0.7.2
Ubuntu 9.10, Python 2.6
metoikos, I've spent a little time looking into this and it looks to be an issue with TurboGears with Python 2.6. There's a discussion on the Python list about the change in behaviour that's causing this, but the short of it is that object.__init__ used to ignore arguments, but as of 2.6 it throws this error. How no other Python2.6/TG2 users have run into this I don't understand.
Want to try quickstarting a new project to see if that works?
# Don't forget to activate your virtualenv first
$ source your_mediacore_virtualenv/bin/activate
$ paster quickstart
$ cd yournewproject
$ paster serve development
In any case I'm installing Python 2.6 and will see if I can figure this out in my spare time.
