I tried to figure out how the html/css structure of Mediacore/genshi is, but its pretty hard to figure everything out. I need advise what the best way is to modify a normal HTML/CSS template design into a nice designed website with the Mediacore CMS and other features as backend. (Lets say a different layout + menu but keeping the CMS and player options).
I know it has a custom CSS field in the Admin panel, but I am not sure I can change everything I want and more importantly not how to do so.
Nobody an idea what the best way is or where to find people who can?
I find it hard to answer your question. The best way is to use the admin appearance panel to inject your custom layout. This requires only basic webdesign skills.
If the appearance panel is not powerful enough to do the customization you want, you have to resort to modifying the templates as you mentioned.
The most powerful option is to write a custom plugin. For example I built a plugin so customers can have different templates for certain categories.
What the 'best way' is depends on your requirements. Do you need simple upgrades? What are your skills? How many MediaCore installs do you maintain? What do you want to customize?
I want the site to be flexible using mediaqueries, a different navigation bar, som elayout changes in medialibrary/categories, I want to add a login/signup function (page + links, which needs more custom work I am aware of that).
I think the layout of the Media librabry/categories probably can be done by custom CSS, but the rest is more complicated.
I have zero Python knowledge, and moderate HTML/CSS, I currently use a total different system and have a testversion of MC. My initial idea was to convert a simple html template to use with MC. I do want to use MC on multiple websites but I already figured out that its easier to have multiple installations.
Is a template like plugin script an option? (something that just calls HTML files and CSS and 'translates' that to python)

I'm not sure I understand what you're aiming at. MediaCore's layout is not really complicated, just a matter of some Genshi templates using HTML+CSS. The most complicated thing is that there are 2-3 templates which are merged using Genshi's py:match + xpath.
I think I just dont understand how it all works together. Is Genshi some advanced thing? I already tried to find people who understand it but I found only 2 on ELance for example.
I want(ed) a html/css design and 'port' it to be used with MC. If you know people who have experience you can tell me and I will contact you.
