Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'd like to run Mediacore in a protected environment (behind a password). This way I can control which video's are available, the bloggers can embed them without leaving their 'write a post' screen, and only I and the bloggers have access to all the video's. Blog visitors can only see the video's offered to them through the blogs and don't know what we're hosting.

Most blogs are for educational institutes and require us to make certain video's available at certain moments. Eg. Blog A. might require video 1 in week 12, while Blog B won't be allowed to display the video (post) in week 17.

Kaltura offers this type of functionality in http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-video-pack/ and something similar for Mediacore would really excite me since I feel Kaltura is less stable (and more complex) than Mediacore.

Just curious, but have you seen where you can go to any MediaCore page and grab an embed code for the video? Most people with WordPress blogs just grab the embed code from the video they want to link to.

Or did you have something else in mind for integration with WordPress?

Hi All,

I'm working on a multisite Wordpress network and am currently investigating my video-hosting and integration options.
We're running our own server, hosting about 20 to 30 Wordpress blogs. My objective is to have one video library which provides our bloggers with videocontent. Preferably all video will be uploaded and managed through Mediacore and a Wordpress plugin enables the bloggers to embed the video's without the clumsy copying of embedcodes.

I've read on this forum that some Wordpress plugins already have been developed and I'd love to get my hands on them, even if it's unstable or Betastuff!

We're already evaluating Mediamosa and Kaltura and I'd love to add Mediacore to our list of options. Hurray for Python!
Both Mediamosa and Kaltura have a pretty well-documented wordpress pluginset and I would gladly trade the wordpress plugin for a decent writeup on 'Mediamosa-Wordpress integration on your own VPS'.

Anybody want to share some code?

TIA,
Paul

I think there is little to no integration with any PHP-based software. Integrating with PHP is not easy because MediaCore uses Python so you can't re-use MediaCore code, but maybe the JSON API can help.

Audio Podcasts: Sure, there is even a special tab in the nav bar. :-)
Images are supported as Thumbnails (for videos/podcasts) and can be uploaded in the admin section. MediaCore currently does not handle Image Galleries. That feature was requested by some people but no real commercial demand yet so other stuff is higher on the agenda currently.

Hi all.

I have finally found a solution in mediacore for our vidoe stuff.
But I'm wondering if MediaCore can handle Audio Podcasts too?
What about JPEG/PNG Files? like a wallpaper?

Does anybody know?

Right now the only thing MediaCore shares with WordPress is Gravatars (http://gravatar.com). If users in WordPress sign up for an account, and have a gravatar, when they enter their email address to comment in MediaCore it will automatically pull up their gravatar.

Other than this, there is no direct correlation between registration of members in WordPress, and in MediaCore.

We're looking into building a profiling platform into MediaCore, and it would be nice to have a hook for integrating WordPress profiles, but this is not schedule for 0.9 (and possibly not even for 1.0) as it's just a nice-to-have at this point. If more users wanted this feature we could look at it more seriously.

Hello,

Just to clarify as I am not a tech guy.

If I use WP as a CMS for Mediacore, can the registration of new members be done by WP?

In other terms, I would like that only registered users watch the videos. Can it be done with WP?

Thanks guys

We've been getting quite a few questions about the technology behind this website. In short we are using:

MediaCore of course is being used to power our demo

TurboGears for the core of the site. This covers most static pages.

Sphinx for the docs in combination with Disqus for comments.

WordPress for the blog

BBPress for the community

MooTools for a lot of the JavaScript stuff.

960 grid system for all the grids and layouts.

The majority of the design work was done in Photoshop and then hand-coded using VIM or Coda (depending on who was working on it).
