When I try to upload files larger than 500Mb, causes the error # 2038.

Files until this size are normally loaded.

I checked my Apache, and there is no restriction on the maximum size of files in POST.

I'm using mod_wsgi with local filesystem storage.

Is there a way to disable all storage engines accept for local file upload to the server? I disabled all the external engines and players but the upload form still shows an external url input field.

Appreciate your help.

Hi everybody,

I have a problem uploading to mediacore from my local files. It appears that works fine because it charges the video until 100%, but then, when a few seconds pass the error
"Error al guardar el archivo. Por favor, inténtelo de nuevo" raises (its the relative "Saving the file failed. Please try again").

The weird thing is that mediacore was already installed and it works fine. There are several local files uploaded, but recently we change the files (not the mediacore configuration) in our server and it's when fails.

Looking at the logs, they show the next error:

Error - <class 'sqlalchemy.exc.IntegrityError'>: (IntegrityError) (1062, "Duplicate entry '154' for key 'PRIMARY'") 'INSERT INTO media (type, slug, podcast_id, reviewed, encoded, publishable, created_on, modified_on, publish_on, publish_until, title, subtitle, description, description_plain, notes, duration, views, likes, dislikes, popularity_points, popularity_likes, popularity_dislikes, author_name, author_email) VALUES (%s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s)' (None, '_stub_2011-08-25-101004', None, True, False, False, datetime.datetime(2011, 8, 25, 10, 10, 4, 502914), datetime.datetime(2011, 8, 25, 10, 10, 4, 502925), None, None, 'Temporary stub 2011-08-25 10:10:04', None, None, None, None, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 'Admin', 'mail@domain.tld')

What is working wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Trying to add different types of videos and sources to test mediacore out but whenever I add a youtube url it just says it cannot add it.

I assume it wants the link you get from the 'embed' code youtube gives you? I tried both that and the normal url anyway but still just says cannot add it.

Hello,

I often tether my iPhone's 3G connection to continue working on stuff while traveling. The weird part is that when I try to upload the thumbnail the progress bar doesn't do anything. Does it need some open ports or something? If I remote control my home computer, uploading works just fine (regular router setup).

Hi, I have been pounding my head trying to figure out this problem. I don't have enough debugging information to pinpoint to the problem, but here is what I have observed:

When I upload the file (mp4 in this instance), the URL by which the file is referenced is broken. It appears that after the upload, the file is not being renamed to its' permalink name, but rather remains under the original filename with incremental number prepended to it. I can access it if I modify the URL by hand but all of the links from MediaCore to it are broken.

I see this error in /var/log/httpd/error_log:

File does not exist: /var/www/mediacore/data/media/9-test-upload.mov, referer: http://vs7/mediacore/admin/media/10

Dear community,

i am not a programming expert but have quite some experience in setting up content management systems. I thought Mediacore would be just as easy to install as any CMS... upload via FTP, install and go, but obviously it doesn't work like that.. It would be great if someone could answer my questions for basic understanding about how this works.

-------
Do I really need to create a virtual environment with Python before I can use the software? Or is there a way to install my Mediacore online and then do manual template work that I can upload in some template folder?
---------

First of all, I have no Python and have to ask our admin to set it up locally. But nevertheless i read the documentation to find out what to do in the next step once Python is installed. I tried to get to the point where the documentation says "upload your files on your webspace and use mediacore" - but I couldn't find anything like that.

So can anyone give me a hint of how to get Mediacore on my webspace?

Thank you!

the file will go through the upload process but then it says saving the file failed.

I just installed media core 0.90 and running under paster serve --reload deployment.ini mode (no apache)

I've followed all the install steps and have the site up and running on localhost:8080. But when I try to upload either a URL (youtube) or local .mp4 file, I get errors.
For URL I believe it is caused by our company firewall.

But for local file, I see this error on the paster console:
Error - <class 'mediacore.lib.storage.StorageError'>: ('u'Unusable file or URL provided.', None, None)

and "Saving the file failed. Please try again" on the UI.

I've checked the media_dir other _dirs to make sure they're all world writable (777) so not sure what's the issue. All files/dirs are running as root as well as the paster process. This is on a suse linux logged in as root.

I've searched all over google and here but did not find a solution.

When I try to upload a thumbnail I get "Unable to save file, please try again".

My Apache log says:

[Sat Nov 06 15:58:13 2010] [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] Error - <type 'exceptions.ImportError'>: The _imaging C module is not installed

I've checked following the instructions here: http://effbot.org/zone/pil-imaging-not-installed.htm

And the Image module can be installed, as can _imaging - both work fine, so I'm confused. I did have to reinstall PIL to get this far, so I'm wondering if PIL is somehow installed into the mediacore files and I need to recompile or similar - is that likely?

Hello All,
We are testing out MediaCore at our school as a means to move away from using Vimeo.com as our video hosting and sharing solution (which didn't work for a number of reasons, but, at the end of the day it is meant for consumers not institutions). All of our video on Vimeo is shared via albums, and set to be "Hidden from Vimeo.com" so that it is not accessible outside the albums. What are the privacy settings that are recommended for adding a video from Vimeo.com to MediaCore? I would like the video to stay private on Vimeo, but also to bring it into MediaCore. Is this possible?

Thank you for your help.

Best,

Hi,

I was wondering if MediaCore has kind of function to upload more files at one time or can use kind odf FTP watch folder. For example if I can put my video files in MediaCore data folder (or other FTP) and MediaCore will recognize them in that folder and Ive just review them and publish. Thanks.

Thanks for this great and sleek app! I am planning to use it as a web-based media player for my personal flv and mp3 music collection.

I got some ideas what could make the app more simple to use for such purpose:

1) there should be possibility to automatically capture a random frame from video file (using fmpeg for example) and use that as a cover image for the video
2) there should be a batch import possibility - it would be nice to be able to select a whole directory of files and upload them all at once. Then user could be redirected to a list view where he would have all the id3-tag information prefilled into forms and could correct/change those and then finally save it all.
3) when inserting tags for media, there could appear a kind of a dropdown in del.icio.us style
